The Dragons of Lexera

As you know by now Lexera is a magical land that is home to dragons, creatures, and other magical beings, However I have not introduced you yet to the types of dragons that roam the lands. From the elders to the helpful, there are many different jobs for the dragons to do around Lexera and here are just a few of them.

Our journey through the history of dragons starts here. The Medeki, the civilisations ancestors and practical gods, bestowed the job of guarding the land to the dragons. While the Medeki take care of the people of Lexera the dragons take care of the nature and all things to do with it. As time went on and the dragon population increased they started to spread into town and befriend the witches and wizards. Now remember, the Medeki are not just the higher power of the Lexerian people but of Drevia as a whole. So when the Medeki bestowed the dragons to the land it was not just Lexera but also the four neighbouring countries. Now that you have a rough understanding of the history let's get into the types of dragons you may encounter on your travels through Lexera. First I would like to introduce to you the Elders. The Elders were the first dragons gifted the job of guarding the land by the Medeki. They are the ancestors to all of the dragons we see today. Elders do not show themselves very often and when they do it is not for very long. They appear larger than most of the others and decorated in extravagant items. The Elders are often sought after for guidance from the other dragons and sometimes called upon by the witches and wizards to help with spells and other magical tasks. If you see an Elder roaming about Lexera consider yourself lucky since it is a rare sight to see. God and Goddess dragons are next on the list. While you may be thinking that the Elders are basically Gods you may want to think again. The Elders are more of overseers and the direct parents of the God and Goddess dragons. Each part of Drevia has a god or goddess watching over it. Gaia is responsible for Vitizni, the forest in Lexera. Hekate keeps watch on the creatures of Morzdet, the dark woods in western Lexera. While those are just two examples there are tons more of these dragons keeping a close eye on their section of the land. Keep an eye out for more of these dragons to surface as they often appear around the changing of the seasons and big astrological dates.

Next up we have the Dragons of the Seasons. These guys are seasonal dragons that come out of hibernation to help with the changing of the seasons. These guys often have a hoard of seasonal items dragging along with them as it is there job to make sure every tree, flower, rock, and building is ready for the new season. Sometimes these dragons even come to help the witches and wizards spread joy in their lives by helping out in their shops and cafes. Watch out though, they can be mischievous little critters and need to have an eye kept on them at all times. I have found that they especially like to steal sweets! Spring dragons tend to the flowers and budding trees, summer dragons make sure the clouds are free from the sky so the sun can shine down and bring warm weather, fall dragons tend to the harvests and love to play with pine cones and pumpkins, winter dragons are responsible for the cold temperatures.

Along side the Dragons of the Seasons there are a few special Holiday dragons that like to come out and play. These cute little dragons make sure that everyone is in the right spirit for the upcoming holidays. Everything from Lexera day to Halloween and even all of the winter holidays! There is a dragon for every occasion and you can best bet they will never let you forget their favourite holiday. With a pile of decor and a can do spirit these guys will bring a smile to your face.

Second to last we have the Amaratis Dragons. They are the ones that take up home in Amaratis Institute and help the professors and students. They are often perform the duties of cleaning, cooking, and other maintenance jobs around the school. They don't visit Lexera City very often but they are seen poking about in Amara Village from time to time, especially on school breaks. They are a sub division of the Common Dragon with no special affinity to the seasons or holidays but they sure do know how to party and have fun when those holidays arise. These dragons are treated with high respect amongst the residents of Amaratis and are not to be confused with slaves. They were born into this line of work and enjoy getting their hands dirty in their duty of helping their human counterparts.

Last we have the biggest group of dragons. These are the Common Dragons. They can be anything from a little helper to a witch or wizard to a trickster of the woods. They are often the ones that you will see around town helping out with the daily duties of the town. These guy are everywhere and no where at the same time, often just a blur out of the side of your eye as they whip around helping out. The Craftique has a couple resident dragons that you will be introduced to later. You have already met a couple but be on the lookout for these guys!

I hope that you found this article helpful in distinguishing between the types of dragons that are lurking about Drevia. As we come across new breeds and divisions I will update this list. My research continues every day to see what other magical beings are out wandering the lands. Be on the lookout for new dragons to pop up and surprise you and if you come across anything new and excited let me know! We can do some research into your findings together!
